Acceuil / Non classé / The danger of duplicate content on your website

It’s been quite a while since the topic duplicate content has been seen on the web because the topic is supposed to be known to everyone. However, we always find many website owners who make the same mistakes, duplicate content. And while we all get tired of hearing someone say the same thing over and over again, it’s getting boring and we’ll have to sort it all out quickly. Well guess what? Search engines are bored too. When you put the same information on multiple pages of your website or copy content from other sites, this duplicate content can seriously damage your hard-earned search engine visibility.

Repeated Content That Kills Your Site

Killed is a word may be a strong choice of words, but duplicate content is one of the quickest ways to lose credibility with search engines. That wasn’t always the case. The duplicate content used was a good way to standardize brand information across websites. Businesses were encouraged to add text everywhere else to launch it, using it like standard brand descriptions containing important keywords on each page.

By using duplicate content, it has allowed cheaters to steal other people’s content and Google can no longer tell the difference. Currently it is against the rules and Google has become aware of the need for regulations and arguably it is for the best. Only, the problem is that if it is your site which has the original text and the other one copies what to do?

How can I avoid the penalty while sending the same information?

Now that you understand what the different types of content duplication look like, let’s troubleshoot.

Rewrite

First, if you have duplicate content rewrite the information from the bottom up. You need to make sure that you are not just making this method the words and images in a new style, otherwise you are creating more duplicate content.

Redirect

If you have the same or very similar content repeated on many pages without logical reasons, redirecting may be your best option. Redirecting a web page simply means that you set special rules so that every time someone wants to go to a specific page, it will instead take them to another page that you have selected. This is the link.

Canonize

You can avoid the duplicate content penalty by adding a special line of code. This code tells Google this page should not be considered for ranking. People will still be able to read the information, but Google doesn’t count duplicate information against you.
